The cottage is within easy reach (0.5 miles) of Downings village and a generous selection of traditional pubs, coffee shops and restaurants.

Local golf courses include the 18 hole Championship Old Tom Morris and Sandy Hills Courses at the Rosapenna Hotel (less than a 5min drive (1.5 miles)), and the St. Patrick's Course (10min drive).

The area offers a variety of water sports including windsurfing, deep sea diving, sea angling and boat charters. Downings also benefits from a newly constructed leisure centre, with an indoor swimming pool which is only a 5 min walk away. Nearby Carrigart offers horse riding, whilst opportunities for hill walking abound.
